ENHANCING CONSUMER SATISFACTION IN ONLINE RETAILING

EIF Dinner Debate

Date: Tuesday 10 July 2012
Time: 20.00-22.00
Venue: Private Salon, Members Restaurant, European Parliament in Brussels (see map)

The purpose of this event is to debate and explore the consumer focused issues that are critical to success in online business, and the role that EU policy should be playing to eliminate existing barriers and overcome the fragmentation of the online digital market.

According to BIS Economic, only 12 per cent of EU online trade is today cross-border. Consumers in one part of the EU are often prevented from buying digital content from another. EU citizens can only access iTunes in 15 Member States, and Spotify in seven. These are only few of the many examples that today consumers encounter. Further liberalization of services and creation of a digital single market would not only benefit the consumer experience but also the European economy. It is indeed proven that development of a true online single market could add 800 billion Euro per year to the European GDP.

Major experts, including representatives from the online retailer industry, consumers as well as members of the European Parliament have been invited for this occasion to share their views and ideas on this critical topic.
